Hire Me

Bio

I'm a full-stack developer from North Idaho. I'm ridiculously good at building modern JS apps using React, Redux, GraphQL, and node.js. I'm a polyglot that writes about code stuff at MostlyUseless.space. I would love to work on tools for developers or designers, or both -- the future of dev is design.

What I Can Do

  • full-stack modern JavaScript (using Next.js, Deno etc)

  • React + Redux + GraphQL + node apps

  • Ruby and Rails apps

  • Modern Clojure

  • Really good at writing technical stuff. Hire me to write your docs!

If you want to hire me full time I can easily ramp up on anything. I have a particular fondness for functional programming languages like Clojure, Haskell, and Reason. I have dabbled in a bit of everything from C++ to Prolog. Checkout my GitHub or read my writings MostlyUseless.space

Stuff I have worked on

Eldr: A Micro ruby framework

Years ago I wrote a Ruby framework called Eldr. A framework so extremely well documented that it produced a book!

Hactar

Hactar was a zero config dev tool that automatically manages configs, dependencies, and adds libraries using codemods to JS projects. It was envisioned as a solution to JS fatigue.

Vanilla HN

VanillaHN was zero framework HackerNews client written in modern JavaScript using patterns that resembled React and Redux.

Build Your own Sinatra"

A book I wrote on writing your own Ruby frameworks

Learn ES7 in 7 Days

A course that walks you through building a HackerNews reader in plain JS, no frameworks!"

HTTP Client From Scratch

A course on building an HTTP client/plain text browser in Emacs. Designed to be an ultra simple alternative to the bloated web.
